What we can source
- Ceremonial-grade matcha for drinking, whisked with water.
- Culinary-grade matcha for lattes, bakery, confectionery, ice cream and food manufacturing.
- Organic matcha, where the producer holds a certificate recognised in the EU.
- Bulk packs, and retail or private-label packs where the producer offers packing.
Where it comes from
Our matcha comes from established producers in three Japanese tea regions: Uji in Kyoto Prefecture, Nishio in Aichi Prefecture, and Kagoshima in southern Kyushu. Each region and producer has its own style, so we match producers to the colour, taste and use you need.
Specification checklist
- Grade and intended use: drinking, latte or food ingredient.
- Region, harvest (first flush or later) and, if relevant, cultivar.
- Colour, taste profile and fineness, confirmed against an approved sample.
- Conventional or organic.
- Pack size and packaging, and the best-before period you need.
Laboratory analysis for every lot
Every lot is analysed by a laboratory before shipment, so you can check it against EU requirements, including the maximum residue levels for pesticides set by Regulation (EC) No 396/2005. The analysis travels with the documents for the order, and further parameters can be added to the contract.
Samples first
Matcha varies by producer, harvest and grade, so samples are the starting point. We arrange samples and keep the one you approve as the reference for the order.
